Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society - SUGSS

Aims & Objectives

The aims and objectives of the Sydney Upper Gastro Intestinal Surgical Society are to foster research into surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract encompassing the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, liver, biliary tract and the pancreas with particular reference to the development of co-operative multi-centre studies.

The Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society will develop educational programs aimed at the continuing medical education of surgeons practicing in the field of upper gastrointestinal surgery.

The Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society will promote scientific communication by assistance of visitors to the Society's meetings and by helping to arrange visits of members of the society to units in other parts of the country and abroad.

The Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society will facilitate these aims and objectives through regular contact with its members. There will be two full meetings of the society per year both of which will be a combination of research presentations, updates, planning and also continuing medical education. This website will function as a medium whereby valuable resources and information regarding upper gastrointestinal disease can be discussed and disseminated.
